CADD Centre to open 40 centres by 2013
CADD Centre Training Services Limited will open 40 centres in Sri
Lanka to impart training in engineering software.
The CADD Centre is in Sri Lanka since 2003. It has two franchise
centres and has so far trained about 10,000 students and professionals.
Managing Director, CADD Centre, Karaiadi Selvan said that the strong
economic growth driven by large-scale reconstruction and development
projects in infrastructure, tourism and manufacturing sector, has
created a demand for engineers and technicians with mastery over global
product design, product development life-cycle and project management
software.
Through the new centres, which will be set up across the island with
local partners, CADD Centre will introduce many basic-to-advanced
courses for students and professionals in civil, architectural,
mechanical, electrical, electronics and other branches of engineering.
He said that the courses will be custom-designed for the economic and
job needs of local industries, though the internationally recognised
CADD Certification can greatly help students get jobs abroad.
"The country produces 120,000 students annually who qualify for
university education. Approximately 50 percent of the students who have
completed higher education are trained in technical and business
disciplines. However, the employability of technical and engineering
students and productivity of employed professionals would grow
multi-fold if they are exposed to world -class training in globally
leading engineering software products.
"The training will create more job opportunities for students. The
CADD Centre will also partner with colleges and Universities to conduct
courses in CAD, Computer Aided Engineering, Computer Aided
Manufacturing, and Project Planning and Management to higher education
students," he said.
Selvan said that Sri Lanka achieved high growth in 2010 and 2011. Its
GDP is expected to register an eight percent growth rate this year.
There will be a demand for engineers trained in engineering software
products especially in the booming telecommunications, tourism,
shipping, clothing, textiles, cement, petroleum refining, information
technology services and construction sectors in Sri Lanka.
"The massive infrastructure development and economic growth is
driving the need for IT training to support companies to achieve
excellence in productivity and innovation. The consistent supply of
skilled manpower is important for Sri Lanka's knowledge services
industry. The Government has identified IT training as a priority area
in education.
The commitment of CADD Centre to expand its network of IT training
centres will complement the country's aspirations to become a region of
excellence in higher education by 2020", he said.
The CADD Centre is one of Asia's largest information and
communication technology training services company, creating skilled
human resources in computer aided design, engineering, and product
life-cycle management. Founded in 1998, the company has over 300 centres
