International duty free chain re-brands
Flemingo Duty Free entered Sri Lanka with an investment of $ 5 m last
year and unveiled a new logo recently.
“Flemingo specialises in emerging markets and has selected Sri Lanka
which is a growing economy and a ‘happening place’. By promoting sales
through bonuses and incentives, the company expects to achieve a
turnover $ 2 b by the end of this year,” Independent Director of
Flemingo International, Paul Topping said.
With Sri Lanka implementing new infrastructure development projects
that contribute to the growth of tourism, which is expected reach a
target of 2.5 million tourists by 2016, the recently opened Flemingo
Duty Free Store at the Bandaranaike International Airport will be an
attraction, he said.
“We are looking forward to the opening of the Mattala Airport. We
will also be promoting duty-paid business islandwide shortly to fuel
sales growth. We aim to attract duty free shoppers similar to the
Singapore and Dubai duty-free markets to become the key player in the
sector,” he said.
“We are committed to drive product knowledge and service programs by
inviting principals from various wine-producing countries in the coming
months,” Topping said.
