Thurstan's 'Knights on Wheels' on Dec 1
'Knights on Wheels', the Thurstan Motor Parade 2012 will be held on
December 1 to mark the 63rd anniversary of Thurstan College, Colombo
organised by the Thurstan College Old Boys' Union and the School
Development Committee.
The first ticket of the event was presented to President Mahinda
Rajapaksa, a past pupil of the school. The Parade, the first ever
biggest event to be organised by a Sri Lankan school, is in aid of the
school's new hostel and canteen complex.
The Parade, a convoy of around 1,000 vehicles will start from the
school at 1.00pm, cover a distance of 10.5km motoring along Thurstan
Road, Reid Avenue, Bambalapitiya, Galle Road, Old Parliament Roundabout,
Kollupitiya, Junction and Dharmapala Mawatha, before returning to the
school.
A carnival will follow after the parade.
Brain surgery: needs help
J. Irushi Amoda de Silva (11) of 268, Kanda Kuruduwatta, Dediyawala,
Waskaduwa has been diagnosed with Craniopharyngiom and Consultant
Neurosurgeon Dr. Sunil Perera will perform the surgery, Excision of the
Craniopharyngiuoma under Neuronavigation guidance, a facility available
only at the Central Hospital.
The procedure is estimated to cost between Rs. 1,500,000 and Rs.
2,000,000 inclusive of hospital and equipment charges and professional
fees. She may also need extended ICU care.
Her parents appeal to the generous public for financial assistance
for their daughter's proposed major brain surgery. Contributions may be

'Wayside Buys' 2012 on Dec 1
The Sri Lanka Cancer Society will hold a charity bazaar on the
pavement of Greenpath (Opposite Nelum Pokuna Theatre), Colombo 7 on
Saturday, December 1 commencing from 8.30 a.m. to raise funds for the
Society.
Exhibition of paintings
Svayam, an exhibition of paintings by Charmaine Mendis will be opened
at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery on November 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. and from
10 a.m. to 7 p.m from November 30 to December 3.
Neethi Ranga - 2012
'Neethi Ranga'- 2012 the annual event organised by the Neethi Ranga
Committee of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka which provides the sole
opportunity for Attorneys-at-Law to perform and exhibit their talents in
singing, dancing and drama, will be held at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda
Rajapaksa Theatre tomorrow at 6.30 p.m.
