Speaker warns MPs

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa yesterday warned MPs that if they attempt to
interrupt the proceedings of the House on the pretext of raising Points
of Order, they would be sent out of the Chamber.
The Speaker said if MPs raise Points of Order without referring to
the particular sections he will send them out of the Chamber.”
The Speaker’s warning came after UPFA MP A.H.M. Azwar and UNP MP
Sujeewa Senasinghe interrupted proceedings when the votes of the
Economic Development Ministry were taken up for debate.
MP Azwar was warned when he interrupted UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake and
MPs Senasinghe was warned when he interrupted Official Languages and
National Integration Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara.
The Speaker last week called upon MPs to be more respectful in their
behaviour in the House.
