GCE O/L : 32,000 officials for 537,393 candidates

The G.C.E. (O/L) Examination be held from December 11 to 20 islandwide by the Department of Examinations.

A total of 537,393 candidates have applied to sit the examination for 48 subjects in English, Sinhala and Tamil.

Around 32,000 officials will be deployed by the Department of Examinations to evaluate the answer scripts.

"Approximately, ten million answer scripts would have to be evaluated and W.M.N.J. Pushpakumara, Commissioner General of the Examinations Department has organised special monitoring teams to supervise all the examination centres at national level to prevent all types of frauds and malpractices", said W.M. Balasooriya, Director of Education at a conference of school heads of government schools in the NWP held recently in Kurunegala.

The conference was held to explain the duties and responsibilities of the supervisors of the examination centres in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts.
