TNA to hold fresh talks soon
by P.Krishnaswamy
The Tamil National Alliance TNA will hold fresh talks soon with the
Government heeding President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s request to return to
the negotiating table.
Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran told the Sunday Observer that they
would take part in discussions with the Government. At tea, during the
Budget speech, the President called upon them to return to the
negotiating table to sort out important issues, he said. The date
originally fixed for the discussions was December 4 but they were unable
to make it as two of their senior parliamentarians were in Jaffna at a
protest campaign.
They are now working on a mutually convenient date, he said. He said
that they would join the PSC deliberations after the bilateral
discussions resume and mutual understanding on core issues are reached.
