SLPI reflects economic and social development
The Sri Lanka Prosperity Index (SLPI) introduced by the Central Bank
in 2008 reflects the economic and social development of the country and
the provinces on an annual basis.
The SLPI consist of three sub indices of economy and business
climate, well-being of people and socio-economic infrastructure. It has
shown a steady upward incline from 2009 to 2011 with an improvement in
all three sub indices. The SLPI rose by 4.1 percent in 2011 up from 3.1
percent in 2010. |
