Programs to mark the National Reading Month, carried out by public and school libraries were evaluated by the National Library and Documentation Services Board recently. The Kalutara Public Library (KPL), administered by the Kalutara Urban Council, was evaluated and credited for its programs. The passing out ceremony of 194 apprentice police sub-inspectors and 90 Apprentice Constables was held at the Kalutara Sri Lanka Police Training School at Palathota with the participation of Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and IGP N.K. 'The Tourism Industry of Sri Lanka' authored by journalists Shyam Nuwan Ganewatte and Pathum Wickramaratne was launched at the Colombo University Senate Hall recently.
