SLN helps repatriate 27 Indian fishermen
The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) on Friday escorted the 27 Tamil Nadu
fishermen, who were released by the Trincomalee court following their
arrest earlier this week, and handed them over to the Indian Coast
Guard.
Two Sri Lanka naval vessels of the Eastern Naval Command had escorted
the fishermen along with their four fishing boats and handed them over
to the Indian Coast Guard Ship Rani Abbakka at the International
Maritime Boundary Line off Point Pedro yesterday.
The Navy arrested the 27 Indian fishermen when they were poaching in
the Mullaitivu coast on December 23 and seized their four fishing
vessels.
