Victoria International College goes for solar power

Solar power has long been touted for its environmental impact. Victoria International College, Kiribathgoda is powered by over 18 solar panels which create more than 4,320 watts power for the school.

For a project of this magnitude, investment recovery will be in about three years after installation according to specialists who installed the system.

Founder Chairman of the school, Aruna Lekamge said, "This investment is not only for the school but also an investment for students and the future of the nation. This is an opportunity for students to come close to modern technology."

"The school also intends to conduct renewable-energy workshops weekly for students who wish to learn this subject," he said.
