Young sales representatives involved in pharmaceutical marketing need
to be educated on ethics, integrity and professionalism, Director
General, Health Services of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Palitha
Maheepala, said at a workshop organised by the Sri Lanka Chamber of
Pharmaceutical Industry (SLCPI) at the Taj Samudra last week.
The healthcare industry is a highly regulated sector and therefore it
is important for pharmaceutical marketeers to adhere to ethics and
professional standards, he said. Health services in Sri Lanka, he said,
goes back to the era of King Pandukabhaya and since then we have
achieved and maintained high standards. Dr. Maheepala commended the
SLCPI's efforts to inculcate values and ethics among pharmaceutical
sales and marketing representatives. A large number of pharmaceutical
sales and marketing representatives, managers and stakeholders of the
industry attended the workshop.
