Begging, businesses in buses banned

Begging, carrying out businesses or propaganda activities, singing to raise funds and using tills to collect money in private buses have been banned since last Friday, according to President of the Private Bus Owners' Association Gemunu Wijeratne.

He said this decision has been taken to prevent inconvenience caused by such activities to bus passengers. "The passengers repeatedly ask us to ban such activities in buses," he said. Wijeratne said the police have been asked to take legal action against those who violate this ban order.

According to Motor Traffic regulations, begging, raising funds, singing, carrying out propaganda and business activities have been prohibited, he said.
