Major honours for Joseph Vaz

Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa has to be satisfied with a first innings win over St. Sylverster's College, Kandy in their inter-school under-19 cricket match played at Wennappuwa.

Taking the first lease Vazians were all out for 175 runs with Rukshan Fernando and Yeomal Perera scoring 49 and 45 runs respectively. Nimasha Mendis had a fine spell of 6 for 52 for Sylvestrians. In reply visitors were bowled out for a paltry 105 runs with Ransi Peiris claiming 4 for 25 for Vazians.

In their second essay Vazians declared at 108 for 4 with Kasun Vidura making 61 and Manuja Perera bagged 4 for 53. At stumps Sylvestrians were 79 for 2.

Joseph Vaz: 175 (Rukshan Fernando 49, Yeomal Perera 45, Tharindu Rathnayake 37, Nimesha Mendis 6 for 52) and 108 for 4 dec. (Kasun Vidura 61, Manuja Perera 4 for 53).

St. Sylvester's: 55 for 4 overnight - 105 all out (Shehan Madushanka 2 for 8, Primas Obriz 2 for 39, Ransi Peiris 4 for 25 and 79 for 2).
