IT/BPO sector, a billion dollar industry soon
Bangladesh is ahead of Sri Lanka in the IT/BPO
industry which has grown leaps and bounds, IFS Sri Lanka and South
Asia, Managing Director Jayantha de Silva said. Consistent and
coherent government policies have helped Bangladesh to spearhead
growth in the IT/BPO sector which makes a salient contribution to
the economy of the country.

New tourism market in emerging economies
Sri Lanka is taking the initiative to reduce its
dependency on Western markets and exploit opportunities in emerging
economies and the government last week recorded its new initiative
in attracting more Chinese tourists to the country. The Cabinet last
week approved a proposal by Minister of Economic Development, Basil
Rajapaksa to invite 100 Chinese travel agents on a familiarisation
tour of the country.

Volume ventures into Lanka
Volume, a UK digital and technology company will
invest Sterling Pounds 1 million for its operations in Sri Lanka,
