Prelate in Japan gifts 1,000 Buddha statuettes
Ven. Suduhumpola Wimalasara Thera, the founder of the 'Daham Sevana
Singitto', a child development foundation, now domiciled in Japan,
during his recent visit to Sri Lanka said that he would donate 1,000
Buddha Statuettes depicting Buddha's self-asceticism to Japanese Viharas
to mark President Mahinda Rajapaksa's visit to Japan next week.
The Venerable Thera while paying his tribute to President Rajapaksa
for eradicating the 30 year terrorist war commended the country's rapid
development.
He regretted the attempts by certain unscrupulous elements at
publishing anti-Buddhist articles in the foreign press which tarnishes
the image of religion.
He pledged that he would provide assistance to any scheme which
promotes the education of young girls who join the Buddhist Order.
