CBL conducts awareness program for young parents

Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL), continues with Munchee Samanga Ma Piya Mehewara, a service oriented initiative that educates young parents on pre and post natal care.

This initiative commenced in November, 2011 with the support of the Ministry of Health and the office of the Medical Officer of Health in Homagama area.

A spokesman for the company said the program has benefited over 2,000 young parents.

The Munchee Samanga Ma Piya Mehewara program, which is held on the third Saturday of every month from 8.30 am – 12 noon, is conducted by a group of experts, consisting of the Medical Health Officer of Homagama, additional medical officers of health, public health officers, obstetricians, gynaecologists and midwives.

Young parents who participate in this program gain awareness on nutrition requirements during pregnancy, correct way of breastfeeding and vital prenatal information for fathers.

Participants also have the opportunity of consulting the attending medical officers personally. CBL provides breakfast and lunch, consisting of nutritious staples along with a valuable gift to the participants.
