Waterfalls in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is blessed with more than 300 waterfalls . Today we feature Aasupini Ella. You will be amazed at how close it is to Colombo and could be seen at close quarters too.

Asupini Ella - Kegalle

Also known as'Asupini Falls'.This is a beautiful Waterfall which can be found in Aranayake in the Kegalle district and is 30m high. You should visit this historic place.

As in folklore, 33 queens and a King of Sri Lanka had ended their lives at these falls due to various love squabbles.

Bambarakanda Falls – Kalupahana –Belihuloya

This waterfall is located about 18 kms from Belihuloya. One has to reach Kalupahana on the Belihuloya-Haputale road and then travel about another four kms by a small motorable road off Kalupahana. This is the highest waterfall in Sri

Lanka, which is 790 ft high. It will be a pleasant experience to have a dip in the pool at the base of the fall.

This base pool can be reached by walking about a kilometre through the forest. It would take 1 1/2 – 2 hours to travel the 18 kms from Belihuloya to reach the waterfall.
