Sujieeva Dissanayake's latest book titled Sahodariyo will be launched
at the National Library Services and Documentation Board auditorium,
Colombo 7 on March 27 at 3.30 p.m.
Sahodariyo is the Sinhala translation of Askad Mukhtar's Sisters.
Piyadasa Udawatte who won the award for the Best Novel titled Beddata
Handa Payavith will receive the award and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000
from Dayawansa Jayakody Publishers on the occasion.
Ven. Prof. Kamburugamuwe Vajira Thera will preside over the ceremony.
Prof. Lakshman, Piyadasa and Dr. Tudor Weerasinghe will speak on
Sahodariyo.
Sri Lankave Unudiya Ulpath
Sandaruwan Lokuhewa's Sri Lankave Unudiya Ulpath will be launched at
the Rajamaha Vihara hall, Mahaoya on March 28 at 2.30 p.m. Northern
Province Education and Cultural Affairs Minister Wimalaweera Dissanayake
will be the chief guest. Author Gunasekara Gunasoma will deliver the
keynote address.
Scholarships for studying Hindi in India
The Government of India is offering scholarships to Sri Lankan
nationals to study Hindi at the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan (Central
Institute of Hindi), Agra, for the academic session 2013-2014.
Applicants should have done Hindi as a subject at G.C.E. A/L or have
done Madhyama or 100, 200 courses of KHS, Agra or any Hindi course
conducted by Universities of Sri Lanka. Minimum age of admission is 21
years and maximum age limit is 35 years as on April 1 2013.
The selected candidates will be provided return airfare (economy
class), stipend, hostel accommodation at nominal charges and an annual
book grant.
The application form can be collected from the Indian Cultural
Centre, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7 or The Assistant High Commission of
India, No.31 Rajapihilla Mawatha, PO Box 47, Kandy, or The Consulate
General of India, New Road, Hambantota, or The Consulate General of
India, Maruthady Lane, Nallur, Jaffna on weekdays between 9.30 a.m. to
1.00 p.m. from April 1 to 8.
Duly filled in application forms supported by certificates should be
handed over to any of the above offices before April 23. The candidates
are required to bring their certificates in original and present
themselves for an interview at the time of submitting their
applications. |
