Lyceum International School, Nugegoda under-15 soccer champions

Lyceum International School, Nugegoda under-15 soccer team emerged International Schools Soccer Champions by beating Lyceum International School, Wattala 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out in the final of the Inter-International Schools Soccer Tournament at the Kelaniya Football Complex recently.

It was a goalless draw when the game ended at full-time and according to the rules and the shoot-out of 5 shots each were awarded to both teams.At the beginning of the shoot-out Lyceum International, Wattala led by 2 goals to nil. However, at the end of the shoot-out of 5 shots, Lyceum International, Nugegoda was able to beat the Wattala team by 3 goals to 2.

So, Lyceum International, Nugegoda was able to retain the championships for a second time. The tournament was organised by the Royal Institute, Colombo.

The award for the Best Player went to Abdullah Faril of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, while Duvindu Perera of Lyceum International School, Wattala won the award for the Best Goal Keeper.

The Lyceum International, Nugegoda team was coached by Sarath Jayasinghe, Nishantha Silva, Masith Adarsh and Upul Peiris. Teachers-in-Charge were Supun Kanchana and Chanaka Prasad.
