Guy de Alwis memorial match today
A cricket match in memory of former Test and ODI wicket
keeper/batsman Guy de Alwis who represented the country in the 1980's
will be played on Sunday (March 17) at 2.00 pm at the SSC grounds,
Maitland Place.
Several leading players of the past including members of the 1996
World Cup winning team led by Arjuna Ranatunga will participate in a 20
over match against the SSC team featuring former international
cricketers led by Sidath Wettimuny.
1996 World Cup team: Arjuna Ranatunga (captain), Aravinda de
Silva, Sanath Jayasuriya, Romesh Kaluvitharana, Hashan Tillekeratne,
Upul Chadana, Pramodya Wickremassinghe, Muttiah Muralitharan, Ravindra
Pushpakumara, Chaminda Vaas, Marvan Atapattu.
