Gurukula trounce fancied Nalanda

Gurukula Vidyalaya, Kelaniya trounced formidable and more fancied Nalanda Vidyalaya, Colombo by five wickets in their inter-school Under-19 limited over tournament cricket match conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and worked off at Prisons grounds.

Nalanda batted first skittled out for a paltry 99 runs with some resistance coming off the bats of Lahiru Wijerathna 28 and Oshantha Silva 27. Gurukula skipper Nalin Perera had an excellent figures of 4 for 16.

In reply Gurukula passed the opponents score with ease and Hashan Duminda played a masterly knock of unbeaten 58 runs which consisted eight fours in 74 balls.

Nalanda: 99 in 36 overs (Oshantha Silva 27, Lahiru Wijerathne 28, Nalin Perera 4/16, Jayanal Wanniarachchi 2/41). Gurukula: 100/5 in 22.3 overs (Hashan Duminda 58 n.o, Kasun Madushanka 12, Malinga de Silva 2/20).
