Panadura’s Battle of the Greens ends in tame draw

The 21st Battle of the Greens between two leading schools in Panadura,
St. Johns and Royal ended in a tame draw which was played at Panadura
esplanade. Now the tally stands at Royalists four, Johnians one and rest
drawn.
Resuming at 40 for 1 on day two in reply to Royalists healthy total
of 251 Johnians were all out for 146 runs with their skipper Lahiru
Sanjaya making the top score of 36 runs while Tarindu Rusith contributed
34 runs. Tarindu Rusith and Chamila Janaka associated in a valuable
fourth wicket partnership of 43 runs. Royalists captain Thenuka
Dananjaya was the most successful bowler for them with 4 for 27. The
Johnian skipper Lahiru Sanjaya had a good double with 4 for 76 and 36
runs and brought his tally to 87 wickets for the season.
Following on St. Johns batted until the close and held the port for
180 minutes and were 74 for 3 with Tarindu Rusith and Chamila Janaka
scoring unbeaten 21 and 16 runs respectively. Hasitha Dananjaya claimed
2 for 3 runs.
