New Chairperson at NSB

W.A. Nalani |
Veteran Banker W.A. Nalani assumed duties last week as the
Chairperson of the National Savings Bank.
A graduate of the University of Colombo, with a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Economics (Hons) and Bachelor of Philosophy in Economics, has
a distinguished career in banking spanning over 37 years.
Nalini completed her primary and secondary education at Anula
Vidyalaya, Nugegoda and Vishaka Vidyalaya, Bambalapitiya.
She has served as the GM and CEO of the Bank of Ceylon.
Hemas Hospital renews accreditation

Hospital, Wattala, successfully completed the review and compliance
audits carried out by its accreditation partners, the Australian Council
on Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI) recently.
The team of auditors was led by Ms. Marilyn Sneddon, senior auditor
and surveyor attached to ACHSI, an international body for hospital
accreditation with a presence in Australia, South East Asia and South
Asia.General Manager of Hemas Hospital, Wattala, Dr Samanthi de Silva
said that accreditation is important to any hospital since it is a
hallmark of the highest standards of service, quality of patient care
and safety practices.
Abans launches LG XBoom

launched LG XBoom, an advanced sound system."The LG XBoom which produces
25,000 watt PMPO sound has a Smart DJ feature and a DJ Turntable that

Kia introduces Sorento
Kia's
2013 Sorento SUV was introduced to the market recently.
The new seven seater with several new features will reinforce its
status as one of the most popular vehicles in Sri Lanka in its category,
a spokesman for Kia Motors (Lanka) said.
New CEO at Laugfs
Laugfs Gas PLC in a Stock Exchange filing stated that it had
appointed Ashan de Silva as the Chief Executive Officer of the company
from May 30. He is one of the youngest professionals in Sri Lanka to be
appointed as the Chief Executive Officer.
He is a Structural Engineer by profession and graduated in Structural
Engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA. He had an
illustrious career at the university and was a recipient of several
honours and awards.
He was employed by Broadlands Financial Group LLC, Villanova,
Pennsylvania as a Project Manager, after graduation and joined a
multinational organis ation involved in Engineering and Construction as
a Design Engineer after he returned to the country.
He subsequently became a member of the senior management team of
Laugfs Gas PLC.
Two businessmen due next week
Vice Chairman, Bionest Technologies of Canada, François Philippe
Champagne and Chairman, Eco Nest of Switzerland, Rejean Appleby will be
in Colombo next week, to discuss the progress of the recently launched
business venture 'Eco Nest Sri Lanka'.
In April this year Eco Nest launched its operations in Sri Lanka to
expand its presence in the Asian continent.
Eco Nest through its parent company in Switzerland represents Bionest
in Sri Lanka. Set up in 1997, Bionest specialises in waste water
treatment and has been developing waste water treatment systems to
combat the contamination of water basins.

Dharmadasa new SLIC chairman

Businessman Upali Dharmadasa assumed office as the Chairman of Sri
Lanka Insurance Corporation Ltd (SLIC) last week. Dharmadasa is the
Managing Director of Nawaloka Group of Companies which consists of
Nawaloka Piling, Nawaloka Timber Stores, Nawaloka Polysacks, Nawaloka
Industries, New Nawaloka Trading Co. and Nawaloka Developments. He is
also the Chairman of Sri Lanka Timber Merchant's Association. |
