
Adventures of Ricky Deen
A special screening of Adventure of Ricky Deen will be held at the
Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka on the 9th June at 7pm. Special feature of the
screening is that the Musicians of The Chember Music Society Of Colombo
will play the music live for the film.
The music for the film was composer of Lakshman Joseph de Saram who
invited filmmaker Boodee Keerthisena to make a film using some selected
works of music by Beethoven’s Piano Trio Op 11 in B flat and Robert
Schumann’s Piano trio Op 88.
After listening to the three music peices, Boodee thought of the city
he lived for 8years of his life and where he learned the art and
culture, New York City. The music triggered of Boodee’s memories of some
of his closes friends such as Rick Rodine, Spencer Tunick, Lisa
Barnstone and Onome Ekeh. Boodee remarked: ”I had this wonderfull
idea I shared with Onome and Rick since 1993, that is The Adventures of
Ricky Deen some times we called it Adventures of Deen Newton. More I
listened to the music, more it reminded me of the concept and the plot
of Ricky Deen. Then I invited Onome to write it with me for a film and
she accepted it and I am very happy about it.” The cast includes
Mahendra Perera, Dasun Pathirana, Senaka De Silva, Chula, Dharshan
Dharmaraj, Palitha Silva, Derek Wikramanayeka and Sangeetha Weerarathne.
Director Boodee Keerthisena, Producer Buddhi Keerthisena and the
screenplay is by Boodee Keerthisena and Onome Ekeh. Cinematography is by
Dimuthu Kalinga, Editor Ilham Hossein
Art Director Chammika Jayawardena and the live Music is by Chamber
Music Society of Colombo.
Sinhabahu at the Namel-Malini Punchi Theatre,
Colombo 8 on June 15 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m.
French Spring Festival in Sri Lanka
The French embassy will hold the French Spring Festival in Sri Lanka
at the BMICH and the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel from June 18 to July 14.The
festival will consist of 12 events including a film festival, dance
performance, music concerts, gastronomy week, book launch, photography
and science exhibitions, urban development symposium, fashion show and
street art.
