St. Anthony's Girls edge out Pushpadana

St. Anthony's Girls College, Kandy scored a hard fought 1-0 win over Pushpadana Girls College, Kandy in their Kandy Schools Girls Under-17 hockey tournament match organised by the Kandy District Schools Hockey Association and played at the University Grounds, Peradeniya. At half time there was no scoring.

This match was played earlier during the week and the match was called off due to heavy rain with 12 minutes of play remaining.

When the match was resumed yesterday, the Antonian Girls scored their winning goal off the stick of centre forward Nadeesha Wanigathetti.

Thereafter the Pushpadana strikers tried their best to obtain the equalises, but the St. Anthony's Girls College defence held.
