Isuru steers Thurstan to victory

A fine knock of 104 runs by Isuru Fernando which included eight fours and two sixes facing 128 balls and occupying the crease for 215 minutes enabled Thurstan College Colombo to beat Wesley College in their inter school under 17 division one tournament cricket match conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and worked off at Thurstan grounds.

Electing to bat Thurstanites piled up 266 for 9 in their allotted overs and Dulan Bandara claimed 3 for 49 for the visitors and in reply Weslyites were skittled out for a paltry 119 runs with Jonath Kadiranapillai scoring 37 runs.

Thurstan College: 266/9 in 50 overs (Isuru Fernando 104, Thimira Jayasinghe 28, Chalana Nanayakkara 36, Sajith Gunathilleke 28, Udara Mallawage 29 n/o, Dulan Bandara 3/49, Andrew Parvs 2/31, Reshan Senevirathne 2/68).

Wesley College: 119 in 36.4 overs (Jonath Kadiranapillai 37, Seneth Wickremasinghe 18, Abdul Bariq 13, Sheron Jebesaran 13, Gihan Sachendra 3/37, Chenai Wijesinghe 3/26).
