Sri Lanka-Russia Business Council AGM
The Sri Lanka-Russia Business Council (SLRBC) of the Ceylon Chamber
of Commerce held its 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM) recently at the
Russian Centre, Colombo.

Counsellor of Russian Federation, Evgeny Sergienko was the chief
guest. Director General of the Department of Commerce, P.D. Fernando,
President of the National Chamber of Commerce, Sunil G. Wijesinha,
former Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Deva Rodrigo and key
officials of the Russian Embassy and the Russian Cultural Centre were
present.
Director, Regency Teas (Pvt) Ltd, Hiran Karunaratne was re-elected
President of the Council for 2013/2014.
Head of Finance Group Reporting and Performance Management, Agro
Harapan Lestari (Pvt) Ltd, Isuru Samarasinghe, and Managing Director,
Unitrades Limited, Priyantha Hapuarachchi, were appointed Vice
Presidents of the Council and Managing Director, Delta Shipping (Pvt)
Ltd, Mohamed Shabir will serve as the immediate Past President.
Committee Members for 2012/2013: Nature's Beauty Creations, Imperial
Teas, Mos Lanka Investments, Hayleys Leisure Holding, Maharaja
Organisation Projects, Hayleys Energy Services, HVA Lanka Exports, Avian
Technologies, Freight Links International, World Travel Centre. With
development opportunities opening in Sri Lanka there is keen interest
shown by Russian industrialists and investors in the potential the
country offers, said President, SLRBC, Hiran Karunaratne.
"A number of visits and meetings has been facilitated by the Council
in recent months concerning opportunities in industrial parks, nano-technology,
pharmaceutical industry, power generation, prefabricated construction
units and hotels.
The Council will continue to strengthen economic ties between Sri
Lanka and Russia," he said. |
