Chevron Lubricants Lanka has consolidated its efforts with institutions such as the AIDS Foundation of Lanka and the Lanka Business Coalition on HIV and AIDS to eradicate HIV and AIDS in the country. Several initiatives have been conducted under Chevron's CSR project to mitigate the spread of new infections which is currently reported as being 4-5 per week.

Foundation Chairman, Dr. Palitha Abeykoon and Trustee, Dr. Sujatha Samarakoon present the first poster to Chevron Lubricants, Managing Director and CEO Kishu Gomes at the Chevron factory premises in Kolonnawa. Dr. Sarojini Perera and Mrs. Swarnamali Perera of the Foundation and General Manager, Supply Chain, Chevron Lubricants,Wijitha Akmeemana look on.

At a recent ceremony presided over by Chevron Lubricant Managing Director and CEO, Kishu Gomes, key officials of AIDS Foundation of Lanka presented several educative posters to the company and commended its efforts towards this cause through the awareness programs conducted for Sri Lanka's workforce each year.

The presentation of the posters took place at the factory in Kolonnawa and at the Caltex head office where issues pertaining to caution, risk aversion, and social stigma were discussed.

"As a Board Member of the AIDS Foundation of Lanka, and in my capacity as a citizen of Sri Lanka, I call upon those who can take the lead to protect our workforce and the public, by raising awareness of this deadly disease.

The trend is alarming and it is estimated that one infection takes place every day in Sri Lanka," said President of the Lanka Business Coalition on HIV and AIDS, Kishu Gomes.

The AIDS Foundation of Lanka was inaugurated in November 2008, with a board of management consisting of several eminent persons with experience and a proven track record in local and international organisations. Its mission is to promote comprehensive care of people living with and affected by HIV and support activities that are crucial to preventive programs.
