Annual award of Mr and Mrs D.A. Rajapaksa Memorial Gold Medal

Arrangements have been made for the award of a gold medal for agricultural engineering, in memory of the late Mr and Mrs D.A. Rajapaksa (Dona Dandina Samarasinghe Dissanayake), the parents of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his brothers and sisters, by the University of Ruhuna.

The donation is made by D.A. Rajapaksa Commemorative Oration Committee, a sub-committee of the Rajapaksa Memorial Educational Cultural and Social Services Foundation.

The 46th death anniversary of Mr. Rajapaksa and the 28th death anniversary of Mrs. Rajapaksa fall in November 2013.

The medal was first awarded on March 30, 2013 to mark the 108th birth anniversary of D.A. Rajapaksa and this award has been made an annual feature effective from 2014.
