Ragging senior teacher trainees to be expelled

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena has decided to expel senior teacher trainees of National Colleges of Education if they are found guilty of ragging their juniors, said President, School Principals' Association Kurunegala W.M. Somapala at a conference of deputy school principals of the Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts of the North Western Province at the Bingiriya Education office.

"Senior students of National Colleges of Education in the island who torture trainees by ragging would be expelled from their study courses after conducting disciplinary inquiries.

Those who have mental deficiencies cannot guide future citizens on the correct path and they should not be allowed to enter the noble teaching profession which is equal to divinity," he said.
