Kidney patient

M.G. Sameera Ranjith Gunadasa of Millagala Junction, Kitulhitiyawa, Kekirawa is suffering from acute renal disease and the Nephrologist of the Kandy General hospital, Dr. A.W.M. Wazil has recommended kidney transplant. His father has donated a kidney, but a sum of Rs. 500,000 is needed for the surgery.

As they difficult to find the funds, he appeals to the generous public for contributions which could be remitted to his A/C No. 7053369 of the Bank of Ceylon, Kekirawa.

 


Thomians' Nite 2013

The Thomians' Nite 2013 organised by the Matale Old Thomians' Association, Colombo branch will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 7.00 pm at the Hotel Samudra - Tourist Board, Colombo 3. The old boys and their families, friends, well-wishers are invited to participate and make the event a success.

The show is in aid of Scholarship Fund to help under privilege students. The event is coordinated by the Secretary, Champaka Bandaranayake (07773665576)


Batti student drowns in S.Thomas' pool

A student drowned in the S. Thomas' College Swimming pool, Mount Lavinia last Friday around 8.30 pm, the police media said.

The 15-year-old Kanth Sujith Dilakshan of St. Michael's College, Batticaloa had arrived in Colombo, along with his team mates to take part in a swimming competition to be held at S.Thomas' pool. Mount Lavinia police are conducting investigations.


W.H. Samaranayake Memorial Oration on Nov. 22

The inaugural W.H. Samaranayake Memorial Oration will be delivered by Emeritus Prof. J.B. Disanayaka on November 22 at 6.30 at the auditorium of the Expographic Bookstore, Pannipitiya Road, Pelawatte. The theme will be 'W.H. Samaranayake's legacy to the sphere of English Education in Sri Lanka'.

Organised by the W.H. Samaranayake Foundation, the event will also feature a memorial appreciation by His Lordship the Bishop of Kurunegala Rt. Rev. Shantha Francis, recounting his memories of his former teacher, the late W.H. Samaranayake.


Requiem mass for Benedictines

St.Benedict's College Old Boys’ Union, Colmobo 13 will hold its annual Eucharistic celebration for the departed members of the Benedictine family on Friday, November 22 at 6.00 p.m. at the college, a media release from General Secretary, St.Benedict's College Old Boys’ Union said.

The Benedictine fraternity has been invited to congregate together with their family members at this Eucharistic celebration to offer prayers and thanksgiving for the departed Benedictine family, who worked and served our school in the years gone by, the release said.


Old Rajans Scout AGM on Nov 23

The 35th Annual General Meeting of Sri Lanka's oldest scout association, the Old Rajans Scout Association of Dharmaraja College, Kandy will be held on November 23 at 7.00 p.m at Suisse Hotel, Kandy.

Old Rajan Scout, Dr. Susiri Weerasinghe, the Adviser on South Asia Countries’ of the Foreign Ministry of Japan and Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Commerce, Aichi-Gakuin University, Nagoya, Japan will be the chief guest.


Krishnamurti talk today

A recorded public talk on “The clear mind does not choose” delivered by the late Indian sage J. Krishnamurti will be replayed at the Anula Nursery School Hall, High Level Road, Colombo 6 today at 9.45 a.m.
