CNCI hails C'wealth Business Forum
The CBF (Commonwealth Business Forum) provided an ideal platform to
develop a network among business leaders, promote investment
opportunities, share technology and success stories for the benefit of
the people, said CNCI, Chairman Gamini Gunasekera. He said it was the
largest Commonwealth Business Forum, attended by nearly 1,450 foreign
and local delegates from 83 countries, 53 member states and 30
non-Commonwealth countries.
The Commonwealth has a population of nearly two billion people and
accounts for 20% global trade.
“Sri Lanka is one of the world’s most unique and exciting global
destinations.
For 30 years we could not exploit opportunities and derive the
maximum benefits from our inherent strengths such as geographical
location, business friendly culture and high calibre human resources due
to terrorism in the country,” he said. The theme of the CBF ideally fits
Sri Lanka’s own philosophy, Partnering for Wealth Creation and Social
Development:
The Commonwealth, Indian Ocean and SAARC. Parallel to CBF the
'Reflections of Sri Lanka' exposition on trade, tourism and investment
organised by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce provided an
opportunity for local manufacturers to display their products of
international standard and foreign participants in this exhibition
displayed their technology and equipment which could be used by local
industrialists in their manufacturing process. |
