People's Bank launches SME centre in Ampara

The People's Bank opened its latest Small and Medium Scale Business Centre at the Ampara Regional Head Office recently.

People's Bank, Deputy General Manager T. A. Ariyapala, Ampara District Additional District Secretary K. Wimalanadan, People's Bank, Chief Manager, SME, Wickrama Narayana, Regional Manager (Ampara), E. Somachandra, Manager W. Muthugla, bank officials and a large number of entrepreneurs were present.

Launched under the budget proposal of 2012, the new centre aims at uplifting small and medium scale business sectors by providing them with adequate loan facilities for agriculture based products, livestock, apparel, fisheries, tourism, construction and a host of other business sectors.

The People's Bank has taken steps to open such centres in all districts, and the Ampara centre is the ninth such entity.
