Over Rs. 3 m for pre school and sports training in NWP

One thousand five hundred pre school teachers in Kurunegala and the Puttalam Districts will be trained by the end of next month to equip pre school teachers with modern techniques and positive attitudes.

This program will be implemented under the guidance of NWP chief minister Dayasiri Jayasekara. Rs. 2.5 million would be invested on this venture and 75 experienced teacher trainers would be deployed. Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage has assured Dayasiri Jayasekara to provide all assistance to train talented youth of the North Western Province to compete at international sports events next year.

Accordingly, 1,750 selected sportsmen and sportswomen of NYSCO youth clubs in the NWP will to be trained under the guidance of sports experts who have achieved international sports experience. Meanwhile, Ministry of Education of NWP-PC has made arrangements to equip all sports teachers of government schools in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts of the NWP with the latest sports techniques and the know how on the use of modern sports equipment and instruments to train rural school children.
