The match began with a hint of excitement with the 'red shirts' showing signs of stiff resistance but with the Kandy team gradually finding their fluency CR and FC slipped back and could not keep up to the speed of the Kandy team.

In the fifth minute CR and FC was awarded a penalty but Reza Mubarak missed the difficult kick. But seconds later CR and FC took the lead with Mubarak making no mistake with an easy kick. The Kandy team made a few mistake with the Longden Place team taking the advantage to score.

But Kandy SC quickly got into their stride and Fazil Marija scored off a quick move to put his side in the lead. Andrew Porter gave them the extra points.

For the CR and FC Reza Mubarak was the chief scorer gave his side valuable points putting over another penalty when a Kandy player was spotted off side. At one stage CR and FC took the lead 9-7, putting over three penalties to a goal scored by Kandy SC.

But the Kandy team came to it's own and kept on attacking with a sound defence and the 'red shirts' efforts were not enough to put the brakes on the Kandy outfit. The visitors went on to plant their second try off a line out close to the 'CR' territory and skipper Roshan Weeraratne powered his way to score and Fotamu added the extra points. The Kandy side's scoring mood brought them another try with CR and FC wilting under pressure when Saliya Kumara completed a fine move to score at the left corner flag.

The winners led 21-9 at the short whistle. On resumption the CR and FC did well to restrict the Kandy score line by some fine spoiling work through their back division. The visitors were able to cross the hosts line only once when Saliya Kumara collected the ball and covered good ground in semi-darkness to score an unconverted try.

For the 'red shirts' Reza Mubarak put over fourth penalty while Lomu dropped a kick. For Kandy Andrew Porter also put over a penalty.

Referee: Irshad Cader.
