Navy-Police match stopped due to bad light

The Dialog 'A' Division League rugby match between Navy Sports Club and Police Sports Club ended abruptly at Welisara yesterday due to bad light after 39 minutes play of the first half. Navy were leading by 22 points (two goals, one try, one penalty) to 3 (one penalty) at the time of stoppage.

Navy were willing to continue the game under floodlights but Police protested to the match referee Bharatha Hegoda who upheld it. The match will now be continued today at 4pm at Welisara or Race Course. Centre Stefano, winger Lee Keegal and flanker Danushka Perera scored the tries for Navy with full back Nuwan Hettiarachchi converting two tries and one penalty.

Fly half Arshard Jamaldeen fired across a 23-metre penalty for Police.

Referee: Priyantha Gunaratne.
