Navy in superb 24-15 win over Up-Country Lions

A superb display of place kicking by Navy's Nuwan Hettiarachchi helped them to notch up their third successive win by 24 points (one goal, one try, four penalties) to 15 (one goal, one try, one penalty) over Up-Country Lions in the Dialog 'A' Division League Rugby Tournament match played at Nawalapitiya yesterday after trailing 14-15 at half time.

It was a Up-Country Lions, who dominated the first half, scoring two tries through winger Sashan Mohamed and skipper and scrum half Srinath Sooriyabandara with fly half Pera Gibbs adding the extra points to one try and firing across a penalty, the homesters took the lead by the 'breather' as the sailors were able to score a try through fullback Ritu and Nuwan Hettiarachchi fired across three penalties including one from 60-metres out.

In the second half, the sailors scored a try through full back Ritu while Nuwan Hettiarachchi, who had a grand game fired across a superb penalty to give the sailors their third successive victory having beaten Air Force and Police in their first two matches and they remain a strong contender for the 'A' Division League Rugby Title this year.
