Chandupa Alahakoon going places in Table Tennis
Lyceum International School, Bogamuwa has in its ranks a ten-year-old
up-and-coming T.T. Player in Chandupa Alahakoon who seems to be going
places in the Table Tennis scene here in Sri Lanka.
The talent of Chandupa Alahakoon was seen in no uncertain manner
first at the 9th All-Island Intermediate Novices T.T. Championship in
June this year when he won the under-12 boys singles title at S. Thomas'
Indoor Sports Stadium at Mount Lavinia. Then Alahakoon went on to clinch
the under 18 boys singles title and All-Island Novices Championship.
With victories coming regularly, he is ranked among the top ten in
the under-12 boys category in the raking scheme for this year in Sri
Lanka.
Alahakoon was the under-10 and under-12 semi-finalist and
quarter-finalist at several All-Island ranking tournaments. To win so
many titles, Chandupa has a variety of attacking shots under his belt
and he had produced them at the matches to keep his sequence of
victories going.
With a wealth of talent behind him, Chandupa Alahakoon is bound to
climb the ladder of success in future tournaments too.
To achieve success one has to get encouragement and he is getting
plenty of encouragement from the Mohan Lal Grero Foundation and Lyceum
International School whose Principal Mrs. Kumari Wijeratne and other
school authorities and coach Lalith Perera has seen to it that Chandupa
Alahakoon keeps improving in the game of Table Tennis. |
