Korean Govt presents computer laboratory to nursing school

A computer laboratory equipped with 41 new computers presented to the Sri Jayewardenepura National Nursing School by the Korean government was opened recently.

Korean Ambassador Arjuna Jongmoon Choi and Health Ministry Secretary, Dr. Y.D. Nihal Jayathilaka, nursing school students, faculty members, and five visiting Korean professors were also present.

The computer laboratory is part of the Korean government's development program, implemented by the Inje University to transform the education system in the Science of Nursing. Until now Sri Lanka only offered a three-year-diploma program for nursing students, but the course of study will be stepped up into a Bachelor's degree program. The Inje University is working to develop and upgrade the curriculum to match a Bachelor's degree program and also provide advanced tools and materials for practicals.

In the coming years, they will also offer training courses on emergency nursing care. Ambassador Choi said that this project will be a cornerstone in meeting the needs of student nurses who wish to further advance their skills and knowledge.
