President Hamid Karzai will arrive in Sri Lanka today

Afghan President Hamid Karzai will arrive in Sri Lanka today on a two- day official visit. He is expected to call on President Mahinda Rajapaksa and meet a number of senior government and opposition members during his stay in Sri Lanka.

President Karzai will place floral tributes at the War Memorial at Sri Jayawardenapura, Kotte on Monday evening. His visit coincides with the opening of the Afghanistan Embassy in Colombo by Afghan Foreign Minister Ahmad Moqbel Zarar on Monday evening. External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris will also participate in the opening ceremony. Hewill leave the country on Tuesday.
