Fresh milk production program in top gear in Kurunegala

The government has made arrangements to train 700 youngsters in 187 villages in dairy farming management this year to promote liquid fresh milk production in the Kurunegala district. Rupees 170 million would be invested for this purpose.

The program is implemented by the Ministry of Livestock Development and Agriculture.

Accordingly, 4,200 acres of land would be cultivated with sufficient grass to feed milch cows, said W.E. Jayathilake, the former Divisional Secretary for Bingiriya speaking at a meeting of dairy farmers in the Kurunegala district held at Bingiriya Agrarian Services Centre recently.
