Korean Government Computer Lab for Nursing Students

The Korean government opened a computer lab, equipped with 41 new computers, at the Sri Jayewardenepura National Nursing School recently. Korean Ambassador Arjuna Jongmoon Choi and Dr. Y.D. Nihal Jayathilaka, Secretary of Health were present at the opening.

The computer laboratory is part of the Korean government's development program, launched by the Inje University. It aims at transforming the science education system for nurses in Sri Lanka. Until now Sri Lanka has only offered a 3-year-diploma program for nursing students, but this course of study will be upgraded into a Bachelor's degree.

The Inje University is developing the curriculum to match with the degree level and also provide advanced tools and materials for practical. They will also offer training courses for emergency nursing care in the future.

Ambassador Choi said that this project would be a cornerstone to meet the needs of student nurses who wish to further advance their skills and knowledge.
