Workshop for rubber tapping trainees

The Rubber Development Department (RDD) will train a batch of 330
rubber tapping trainees this year to increase the local rubber
production. A senior official of the RDD told the Sunday Observer that
they have drawn up plans to hold eleven training programs. This ten day
training program will be in the districts of Galle, Moneragala,
Kalutara, Ratnapura and Kegalle.
Each trainee will be provided with a tapping knife and uniform.
Workshop organised by Department Regional Officers will be held on
field basis. We also said that Sri Lanka earned a revenue of Rs. 21262
million in 2012 from natural rubber exports.
