Use of organic fertiliser encouraged

The introduction of Organic fertiliser in the Matale district is not successful. It was introduced to minimise chemical fertiliser use according to officials of the Agriculture Department. They said, about 960 families were engaged in the program in Matale, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

A few of them who are continuing the organic fertiliser processing on a large scale face difficulties without a proper market. Organic fertiliser be distributed through the Agriculture Department along with the chemical fertiliser, they said.
