Wild animals hunted near sanctuaries

The sale of meat has increased close to wild life sanctuaries bordering the Matale district posing a threat to wild animals.Poachers hunt wild animals in Sigiriya, Wasgamuwa and Pallekele, environmentalists said. Poachers supply meat to certain hotels in the district, with the help of some officials, they said.

Wild life conservation officials said, they lack facilities to check this illegal business.
