Ranvali Abiman 2014 from March 4

Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha, another brainchild of the founder of the Buddhist Theosophical Society Sir Henry Steele Olcott completes 67 years of service this year.

The educational exhibition Ranvali Abiman 2014 which is held every seven years, will be held from March 4 to 8.


Presbyterian alumni get-together

The Past Pupils' Association of Presbyterian Girls' National School, Dehiwala will hold the International Women's Day and get-together on Saturday, March 8 at the Mayor's Residence ('Jana Jaya' Reception Hall, Dehiwala)

(Opposite S de S. Jayasinghe Playground) from 10.00 am to 3.00 p.m.

AGM of Old Lumbinians on March 2

The Annual General Meeting of the 'Old Lumbinians Association' will he held on March 2 at 9.00 a.m. at the Lumbini Theatre.

The Lumbini College will celebrate its 85th anniversary this year.


Mal-Mee again at the cake exhibition

The 31st annual Mal-Mee cake display by the well-known cake wizard R.L. Clement, for the first time with his daughter Shanika and their pupils will be presented at the cake exhibition at the BMICH on March 1 and 2 from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.

The exposition will also held at the Devon Rest, Kandy on March 22 and 23. The highlight of his presentation this year with the introduction of a new long-lasting icing.
 


Death of ANCL employee's mother

Mrs. Kusumawathie Kuruppuarachchy, the mother of P.D.N. Pathirage of Production Dept., English Reading Section, Lake House passed away on Friday. Her remains lie at her residence at No. 54/1A, Itigodawatta Rd, Wawala, Horana.

The funeral will take place at the family burial grounds tomorrow at 3.00 p.m.


No bus shelter for commuters

There is no bus shelter at the Kalmunai Zahira College junction on the Kalmunai Ampara Road in the Kalmunai Municipal Council area.

As a result not only students and teachers of Kalmunai Zahira College, Mahmood Ladies College but also the residents in the viscinity wait for their buses exposed to the sun and rain.


Bridge in danger of collapse

The Babarakiriella suspension bridge in the Rattota divisional secretariat area, is in the danger of collapsing. According to the public, the bridge over Babarakiriella-oya, was constructed during the British period.

The bridge links more than 10 villages in the area. The bridge has become a death trap, the villagers said.


Kurakkan promoted

The Agriculture Department is promoting Kurakkan cultivation in the Matale district as home-garden.

It has commenced in the Wilgamuwa agrarian service area with the participation of 70 farmers.
