First innings points for Ananda

Ananda secured first innings points against St.Joseph's in their drawn school cricket encounter which ended at Darley Road yesterday.

Ananda batting first were 203 for 4 overnight and reached 278 for 9 declared through the efforts of two good innings by Sahan Arachchige 79, Dasun Wijesinghe 57 n..o, and Shammu Ashan 30.

Joes in reply were dismissed for 181 with skipper Dylan Fernandopulle top scoring with 54.

The De Mazenod- St. Benedict's school cricket encounter ended in a draw at Kandana with Bens gaining first innings honours. In reply to the Bens first innings total of 258 for 7 declared the Mazenodiians were restricted for 193. Yohan Soysa 5 for 68 and Madushan Kulatunga 3 for 32 bowled consistently well. For the Kandana school Kavinda Manamperi top scored with 58.

Panditharatne who put on 89 runs for the first wicket with Sahminda Dias (36) was the highlight in the drawn school cricket encounter between Royal and Prince Of Wales played at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Panditharatne struck eleven fours in his innings and with Randev Pathirana (50 n.o), Chamika Karunaratne (40 n.o) with useful contributions coming from the bats of skipper Devind Pathmanathan (39) and Shaminda Dias who followed his first innings 50 with 36 in the second innings saw Royal reach 262 for 4 in their second innings.
