Medical allowance for Dhamma school teachers

The Department of Buddhist Affairs will pay a monthly medical allowance of Rs. 1,000 to Dhamma school teachers who have completed fifty years service. “Since they had dedicated their knowledge, time and energy to inculcate the teaching of the Buddha in children.

They deserve some sort of recognition. That is why this novel program has been introduced on the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne, said W.E. Jayathilake, the former Divisional Secretary for Bingiriya speaking at a meeting of Dhamma school teachers of the Kurunegala District held at Bingiriya Central College recently.
