Celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, the Industrial Development Board has helped many industries to acquire export markets.

The inaugural SMIDEX 2014 hopes to promote many deserving SMIs to expand borders locally and internationally.

The SMIDEX 2014 will also witness the convergence of a large number of exhibitors from the domestic and international markets. SMIDEX 2014 is designed to showcase Sri Lankan SMIs in producing products, services and technologies for the Sri Lankan and international markets. Large companies and multinational corporations (MNCs) have also been invited to display parts and components they would like to procure from SMIs. Chairman, IDB, Nawaz Rajabdeen said that SMIDEX 2014 will be a platform for multiple SMI promotional activities such as exhibition of products and services, business matching sessions, product launches and presentations, exchange of information and ideas on product development and design and technology and innovation and recognition of industrial excellence.

He said that as many as 20 industrial sectors and 10 different industrial support services will be featured during the exposition.

The wide variety of industrial products, services, and SMI support services will make the SMIDEX 2014 an event for everyone involved in SMI promotion and development.

The exhibition will be held at the BMICH from May 23 to 25. It will be open to the public from 10 am to 9 pm on each day.
