More teachers for remote Wayamba schools

There is a severe shortage of teachers in remote schools in Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts at present.

The school heads and parents have sought NWP Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara's intervention in this matter.

More than 200 teachers are reported to be in excess in national schools in Wayamba. The Chief Minister has therefore called upon Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena to release them to be posted to remote schools. The Government has decided to recruit 900 Higher National Diploma Holders to be posted to secondary schools where there are Mahindodaya technological laboratories. They would be appointed as English teachers.

This would ease the shortage of teachers in the NWP to a considerable extent. I hope I would be able to provide adequate human resources to all government schools in the NWP in the very near future”, the Chief Minister said.
